Goat Trekking

Hi, we’re Vahana Goats

Hi, we are Vahana Goats, and this is our Goat Herder, Cailey, but we like to call her Chai. We have travelled far and wide. Between BC and Alberta we have grazed hectares of land, almost any weed you can think of, and have interacted with 100’s of people. When we’re not wandering the Forests and Mountain prairies of southern BC, we are available for vegetation control, soil building and goat trekking eco-educational programs.

What Our Clients Are Saying

Hear from those who have experienced the positive impact of Vahana’s unique approach to land rehabilitation and sustainable practices.

We had an awesome experience with Cailey and her goats! We brought them over to feed on a small forested area on our property. With 35 goats and 3 days our tall grass was trampled and mowed, along with some weeds and the aspen and dogwood shoots that were taking over are now under control. This should be just the right amount of disturbance to get things thriving again. The mutual benefit of having all of this work done while also nourishing the goats is really just the way things should be done. We were also happy with the fair pricing and Cailey was very professional and supportive throughout the whole project. But the best part was the interaction with the goats. They are such magnificent animals. Just being in their presence brings on the most peaceful and calming energy. We can't wait to have them back and would definitely recommend to anyone with similar needs. Thanks again to the Vahana team!

As a Parks Ecologist with The City of Calgary, I used Vahana Nature Rehabilitation for four summers, from 2018 to 2021, for goat grazing on a steep hillside with disturbed vegetation. The area, called McHugh Bluff, was a high use off-leash dog area and natural area park in the city center, across from downtown in the communities of Crescent Heights and Sunnyside. Everything went smoothly each year – the public loved the goats, and we allowed them to visit them where their pen/camp was and interact with Cailey and her team on the hillside when they were out grazing in the park. The two horses and dogs that Vahana used were a great method to keep the goats to the locations where we wanted them to graze. Cailey and her employees were friendly and professional and provided me with daily progress updates. I would recommend Vahana to anyone wanting to undertake a city goat grazing program to address invasive weeds in urban natural areas.

The City of Quesnel utilized Vahana Nature Rehabilitation’s herd and shepherds in the spring and summer of 2023. We also collaborated with Vahana in the summer of 2024 on a continued targeted grazing program in our area. Cailey Chase is always very professional, reliable, and extremely knowledgeable. Cailey, and all of her team, is consistently great to deal with; her shepherds, dogs and goats are all very friendly and hard working! Not only is everyone at Vahana knowledgeable in the craft of targeted grazing, they also interact with members of the public and media in a professional manner. Cailey went above and beyond in the years that we have worked with her. We would be happy to work with Vahana in the future and highly recommend them!
