Vahana Garden
Growing food is becoming a priority for People. Livestock help with that! Vahana Goats spend the winter eating hay, and they turn that hay into manure, and we turn it into compost for gardens, or we leave it on the land and it builds soil. Gardeners and Farmers are renewing their relationship with livestock and how they were involved traditionally in replenishing land growing food.
Vahana Nature Rehabilitation is now integrating their goat work into growing food. Soil Love or Soil Building is a passion of ours as we contribute to greening our lands and deepening our soils. Stay tuned for updates, we may offer soil building classes, a vlog and/or soil building services.
Soil Love
Goats and any other livestock are an integral part of a farm. They create a cycle of life and build soil! Whether they are eating hay or plants growing from the ground, they recycle plant matter back into the soil adding to the structure and moisture holding ability.
With our partnership with the goats, we have built soil in our pastures by bale grazing over consecutive winters. Not only that, they have created the black gold that is the compost that we add to our vegetable gardens every year.
Become part of our mission to restore ecosystems and promote sustainable practices. Together, we can make a difference!
